has it come to this?

The Most Intriguing (and Sensual) Male Poets of 2006 Calendar is here! I can see it now, the young impressionable MFA grad students walking all over the AWP conference with calendars in hand, looking for the male poets of their dreams. This one pictured is of Richard Blanco, a friend from down Miami way. There are other shots of male poets that are kinda "beefcake" and will surely please with its profound imagistic thrust. If C.P. Cavafy were alive today, would he be admiring the line breaks of Randall Mann or just those abs? You can buy it here.

next up after the miami premier

the miami premier of my visual poem/film CAN YOU LOWER YOUR TROPE, PLEASE? was a success last night at the luna star cafe. jim brock and david trinidad did fine readings of their poems and many local poet luminaries came like richard blanco, maureen seaton, and campbell mcgrath. the nice FIU grad students like jen, andrea, jill, kevin, ricky, john, and patsy lent us their presence. big ups to the U.M. MFA's aaron, yasbel, marlon, and cyd who came and represented well.

next month will be the New York City premier of CAN YOU LOWER YOUR TROPE, PLEASE? at a reading at Teachers & Writers Collaborative with my pal paolo javier who will also be presenting his multi-media poems from his awesome new book:
